Role: Team Leadership and Management; Newsroom Operations; Marketing Strategies; News Reporting and Production; Budgeting; Digital Communications Management. -Shaping news from the North Rift Region by implementing innovative storytelling, providing technical support to the team and producing features and special reports in line with the house style and editorial policy. -Supporting production of editorial content for video, digital and print platforms. Achievements: -Increasing the production of news and features from below 10 - 15 stories to 25 - 50 stories on TV, radio and digital platforms. -Leading reporting and publishing of special interest stories like the plight of domestic workers in the Gulf and farming and agriculture. Some stories received 25-30 per cent more readership. -Activating the Newspaper in Education project in 20 schools in North Rift that reach 1,000+ students to boost sales and also improve school performance. -Managing a budget worth KES 600K annually to support staff and other operational activities. -Leading and supervising a team of 20+ reporters, photographers, videographers, and correspondents. -Promoting reports on climate change, insecurity issues, economy. -Lobbying for and implementing newsroom convergence. -Built news teams across 6 counties to streamline staff productivity. -Facilitating training of up to five interns annually and overseeing the onboarding of new reporters and correspondents.
